Salvete, socii!
The CAES 51st Annual Institute, Perge Modo, is just days away and it promises to be a wonderful gathering.
I am absolutely excited about this year’s conference. At the business meeting Saturday afternoon I will be presenting the scholarships and awards and we will take nominations for the Board of Directors and elect officers. Later that afternoon we have arranged an excursion entitled The Classical Language of Albany’s Architecture, led by Albany City Historian Anthony Opalka. In the evening we will dine with old and new friends and reminisce with Donald Mills on fifty years of CAES.
Please join us on Friday, October 24 at 7:30 P.M. for the pre-conference session featuring Linda Fabrizio, Visiting Roman Britain: A New Appreciation for the Roman Res. The President’s Reception, with a select pouring of NYS wines and spirits, follows immediately afterward.
All rooms that we originally had set aside for the Institute have been taken! The Hilton Garden Inn, Albany/SUNY Area, on Washington Avenue in Albany, is nearly full next weekend, but a few rooms remain. If you would like to attend, you may still be able to reserve a room at the CAES rate ($105 code: CYE). Institute registration (which includes breakfast and lunch) may be done online.
Be a part of CAES’ next fifty years! You will find all the information you need on the CAES website and you can subscribe for an automatic alert when information is updated.
See you at the Institute!
Sincerely —
Ellyn Bibik, Vice President
