11D09 AP Latin: Vergil
This is the final year that AP Latin: Vergil will be offered in its present configuration. The workshop will give both new and experienced AP teachers the opportunity to read excerpts from books 1, 2, 4, 6, 10, & 12 of Vergil’s Aeneid, many sections of which will also be in the new syllabus (AP Latin) in 2012-13. Special attention will be given to grading literal translations and how that instruction informs student performance on both the multiple choice section and the free response section of the exam. These skills will serve the present and future AP exam. Throughout the week teachers will compile an assortment of passages with multiple choice questions to use in instruction. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop computer or a flash drive.
