The fall institute will take place in conjunction with the Classical Association of the Atlantic States, October 4-6. The final prices for meals and such are still being negotiated, but since it is in NYC, I want to encourage you to make arrangements for your stay.
Some of you have regular places to stay in NYC but let me give you three options:
The conference will be at the New York Marriott East Side, Lexington at 49th St., and they have a conference price (under CAAS) for their rooms–although it is a substantial one. You may contact them through the Marriott website or directly.
Nearby is the Vanderbilt Y, very simple (some might say Spartan) and inexpensive. You can reserve on their website.
In between I can suggest Leo House on West 23rd St. It is a very old fashioned residence–bed, phone t.v., bathroom–or you can get a room with a shared bath. It will be under $140 per night. You will need to take the subway (which is right at the corner). Their number is 212-366-0100.
Please share this info with you local groups and encourage people to think about housing. We have a nice line-up of speakers and both Caesar and SLO’s will be featured.
Let me know if you have any questions,
Tom
